Update on this issue: client's zip disk was recorded on dedicated
music sampling hardware and is in a proprietary format. The challenge
became one of getting the information onto a cd without a Mac
actually being able to mount the disk. I'm giving him three possible
solutions:

First, the disk copied into a .dmg file using disk utility. Hitting
'ignore' on the disk prompt when the zip drive returned an unreadable
disk error but left the disk in the drive, and disk utility
recognized it and made a .dmg of the entire disk to hard drive. I
then used Converso to create an .iso disk image file from the .dmg,
since some of the discussions of the issue indicated that the sampler
might recognize an .iso file. (I rather doubt that it will be able to
work with a Mac .dmg file.)

Then, I followed the advice given by other users who have wrestled
with this before, unearthing my SCSI Zip drive and CD burner and
hooking them up to my old Performa, disabling the Iomega extension so
the Zip drive would take the disk without trying to mount it, and
using Toast's old SCSI Copy feature to copy the whole disk over to a
CD. (Two coasters as well; I'd forgotten how touchy the OS9 Toast
software and the burner could be.) I think this one's most likely to
work.

He'll be trying them out over the weekend. I'll post if I need to
make adjustments to make his sampler happy.
