It occurred to me this morning that with all these new and
overcomplicated issues we have in software and hardware and screens
flat and rounded, shiny and dull , and laptops and disks and tapes and
old records and 78th left and 45th hanging around, too, containing
stuff we want to preserve not knowing whichever way to do this
best ,or do that best ,and with wires and wireless stuff in a world
using just letters instead of words and have numbers in the bellies of
those many beasts, --- it occurred to me that I am glad that my future
is short. They will have to burn me and throw my ashes back into the
ground--- imagine ashes, plain ashes, not mummified bodies, nor bodies
fit with earphones or certain motors to walk in the heavens keeping
track whether the rest of the family is doing what I think it is
supposed to do here on earth fiddling and piddling with mice and
trackpads , incapable of making coffee on an overcomplicated machine ,
it occurred to me as I was looking at one of my very old phones, with
that rotary dial, with a button to make the ring louder and one switch
to louden the speech in the receiver !!- what a blessing that was for
us who now try to simplify our lives and get back to basics.
I feel sorry for all those who are to help us in our dilemmas when we
don't get to the internet, when our computers strike and our world
caves in --- How anybody is to stay on top of all of it? I don't see
how they can. Maybe the world will come to an end as nobody seems to
be able to halt the global expansion into infinity with people not
knowing how to harness it all- like the sorcerers apprentice of
global proportions ------everything ending in a big bang as they say
it all started.
This is my thought for the day.-- Thanks to our group who is willing
and able to handle our small communal problems, since we still are
able to communicate them in words and language we all still have in
common and therefore are able to explain our difficulties. Amen!

Since this is a new and beta issue sometimes AppleCare tech’s might

components are used in Mail and many other programs to display
information and can cause problems because of this interaction.

My Dear Ed,
I truly thank you for clearing this up for me! One would suppose
that the AppleCare tech reps would have known about that and
realized that it couldn't be fixed by their methods! Our group often
seems to be more on target tan AppleCare. However,I am still
grateful; to have the AppleCare available to me, just in case.
You told me it was the fault of my new Safari 4 install; but I
didn't realize it actually was happening to others. I was wondering
if you had the same problem. You, and Marta, have replied that you
both do. Plus, you sent the Apple-Support_Discussions as examples. I
appreciate all your trouble.
When you were trying to get your e-mail to me. I was probably in the
midst of trying to straighten out more of the mess the AppleCare
people left me. in. I hope and believe I am done now. It was more
screwed up than I had first realized, and it took me many
experiments to get all functions back.
Sincerely thankful,
Mike Watkins

My reply to your email which is about how Safari 4 has messed up
saving your email to the desktop is:
The link I sent with the reply was to show you others are having
the problem. I too can not save an email to my desktop though I
never do such a thing I tried it after you posted the question.
It is a well documented problem on Apples message-board.
I would uninstall Safari 4 if this is something you do all the time.
I practice zero email box
so I try and deal with the emails straight away most of my emails
are questions from students or mailing lists.
