I seem to have gone to seed over Disk Warrior and TechTools Pro.  I  
would try booting from a Disk Warrior disk and seeing if rebuilding  
the directory will help, then I would run the entire suite of  
TechTools over your drive.  I have brought many a computer back from  
the dead with these two programs, favoring Disk Warrior to be used  
first and then TechTools.  When you start TechTools, before you begin  
the Suite for going through all the test go into the settings and turn  
off Journaling, when the program is completely done you will need to  
go back and turn Journaling back on before you eject the disk.

Also there is a box to check under the files menu to "repair files" so  
when it does get to that point in the suite it will repair as it goes.
