she should be able to to the required work with OpenOffice, and it should
work with Windows.... with that being said, i don't know about creating
PowerPoint files with that program... that you would have to research.
Sorry for a  lack of information reguarding that aspect of OpenOffice.  I do
recommend OO (OpenOffice) to students i know, as it is free (Open Source)
and will save files created with it to most Windows-compatible programs.
