Robert,
Well if you look deep enough you can find it. Boy, what a job.

I can't understand why converting the movies with MPEG Streamclip
would allow them to play but that is another way around having to
install a second Quicktime player AND I need the screen capture that
is built into the new Quicktime.

Robert,
I went to the Snow Leopard Utilities folder, didn't find a Quicktime
7 so I went to Apple's site and all I could find for Quicktime 7
were versions for Leopard and Tiger. None listed for Snow Leopard.

Look in your Utilities folder and you might find QT7. If not, you
should be able to install it from the Snow Leopard disk or download
it
from Apple.com.
Install the free sofware Perian for extra functionality as well as
Apple's MPEG-2. Go to perian.com.
Quicktime for Snow Leopard is a massive work in progress. It's got
lots of future potential but less current functionality. That's why
they included QT7 in the install.

Robert,
In Snow Leopard Quicktime is ver. 10.0. It has been completely
rewritten
and I don't know if the 7.6.4 that I have on the Leopard machines
will work
on the Snow Leopard, I don't think it will. Like you say they
work fine on
the ver. 7.??

Try playing them with Quicktime 7.

A word of caution about movies in Quicktime played in Quicktime
in Snow
Leopard.
I had recorded several educational movies off Apple's tutorial
site using
Snap Z Pro. They would play great in Quicktime with Leopard but
when I
tried to play them on the machine that has Snow Leopard I got
sound but
no
video.
So, I don't know if there is a way to convert these so they'll
work in
Snow
Leopard's Quicktime or not but I did want to send out a caution
to those
that may move to Snow Leopard and find some of their work
doesn't play
well.
If I find a solution I'll let you know, if you have one please
pass it
on,
sure would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
John
