I am not even talking about Neo Office, I use Text-edit and it
saves in .doc formats, too. I suppose "Bean" works also.

I don't know if your editor's would accept but doing your work in
Pages
you can save it as a Word document. I have used such many times
and the
Windows folks say it works fine when they receive. It may not
work for
what you do but for the average bear Pages does a good job in saving
your work for Word.
