As others have said virus protection is not really needed at present on OSX.
What I have recently had more problems with is the hacking of Websites to get
user passwords one of the reasons viruses are used in the first place. The
recent Gawker Media Hack of accounts http://lifehacker.com/5712785/ as an
example has caused me to start using a more secure password system to handle
website log ins.
As this is the current way data is being stolen. I have purchased 1Password to
use on both my Mac and iDevices. http://agilewebsolutions.com/products/1Password
The program generates secure passwords and remembers them for you. I have been
going back thru all the websites I use to purchase goods and have secured all
my log on with their own secure password making life on the internet a little
bit more secure and gives me some peace of mind it this crazy world we live in.

Subject: [MacGroup] Virus Barrier

I need to renew my Virus Barrier soon and they now have a new version so I have
to purchase that too. I keep hearing that Macs don't need this type of
protection. Is this true and am I wasting money renewing Virus Barrier??
Opinions welcomed!

Nora
