I am probably the last person that should comment on computer/printer
operation, as I am definitely low tec; however, using an old G5 with
system 10.5.8, I have no problem printing colors from drawings made
with my CAD program. (VectorWorks 11.1) .
When using this CAD program, each line can be a different color, as
can be backgrounds, foregrounds, etc. When I have finished the drawing
to my liking, I just print it out by setting the proper size, and
never worry about the rest, and the pictures and drawings come out fine.
Come to think of it, I occasionally print color pictures on my
computer with out resorting any special settlings. But being lazy, I
usually let Walgreens do that job.

Dan,
In the system pref. under printer you can set a particular printer
as the default, or the last used. If that can't be changed I have
no idea what is going on.
