Thanks to everyone who has responded. It's not that I'm unwilling to pay or don't appreciate the efforts of the many generous programmers who have developed this software, I'm am unable to transfer money of any kind on the internet as far as I know, without a bank account. So Bill I have downloaded Aquamacs and of course received the error "Aquamacs" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. (Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.) How do I add Aquamacs to list of identified developers? I tried System Preferences/Security and Privacy ... but never found a list of identified developers I could edit.
