Still, if you're looking for free and powerful, you will get free and powerful.

Thanks to everyone who has responded. It's not that I'm unwilling to pay or
don't appreciate the efforts of the many generous programmers who have
developed this software, I'm am unable to transfer money of any kind on the
internet as far as I know, without a bank account.

So Bill I have downloaded Aquamacs and of course received the error "Aquamacs"
can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. (Your security
preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and
identified developers.)

How do I add Aquamacs to list of identified developers? I tried System
Preferences/Security and Privacy ... but never found a list of identified
developers I could edit.

And Taco HTML Edit for Mac OS X which when I started using it was free now it's
$24.99

Now I use Sandvox to create my web sites but I use the above when I need to
create something (a form for example) in HTML. Sandvox is $80

I believe you can also use bbedit. It costs $49.99

I have been wanting to design web sites for some time now and towards that end
have read through W3C's documentation for HTML4, HTML5, CSS2 and CSS3, worked
through some basic tutorials on those languages and at the suggestion of an
Apple Specialist have also worked through a basic tutorial on PHP. I found a
text editor, Bluefish, at sourceforge.net<http://sourceforge.net/> and
encountered an error in opening generated by security preferences settings.

1. Would Bluefish be a good editor for web development on a Macbook Pro (circa
2010, running OSX 10.8.2)?

2. Is source forge still a good dependable open source site that is safe to
change the preferences to allow?

3. Have web hosts become so accommodating with their development tools that
programming is almost unnecessary?

Thanks,
Peter
