It's called "two-factor authentication," if you see the term anywhere else. It 
means that just a login isn't all you need. The concept is that you have two 
things to access something that requires high security: some knowledge in your 
head and some thing on your person, neither of which is useful without the 
other.

It's been around since the last century in corporate security in the form of 
some kind of "dongle" you carry around that generates a special code for you. 
I've had one for PayPal since they first came out several years ago. As Lee 
alluded to, it is possible in many instances these days, though, to use a 
mobile device in a variety of ways to be the "second factor." Some involve 
texting you a code each time that you then type in to the site, and other times 
it requires a special app that generates the code. Your personal phone has 
become, in this case, the code-generating "dongle." 

Embrace the new security culture. All the kewl kids are doing it these days!
