Apple finally started certifying third-party USB-C to Lightning adaptors a month or so ago. None of the non-Apple adaptors on Amazon are MFI certified. The certified cables contain tiny circuit boards to translate between the ends. The MFI-certified cables will contain the little circuit boards purchased from Apple. Here’s an article <https://9to5mac.com/2018/12/04/apple-certified-usb-c-launch/> that even contains pictures of the circuit boards.
