You have mentioned Xylotex and CRAMPS in the course of the thread, I was trying to get you to be explicit. The other reason for having YOUR copies of the config files is in case they have been altered or are corrupted. Sorry if you think I am teaching you to 'suck eggs',  as you didn't provide anything else I asked for, I'll leave you to get on with it. If an error mentioning 'segmentation fault' or 'general protection fault' is displayed, attach dmsg (run 'dmsg > dmsg.txt') I have an inkling as to what this error is, but am not going to speculate.
