and was suggested to go with 4.19. I tried this and it does indeed boot fast. The current issue is that I lack the PRU drivers (rproc) for this kernel. My next try would be to investigate if the rproc drivers can be replaced by the UIO version. ... and I totally don't know if this approach makes sense at all as I'm far from exactly knowing what I'm doing / using and how rproc or UIO differ .... It's on my todo list but will be continued in a few weeks.
