If all you want is a big hard drive that Macs and PCs can see, take a
look at one of the storage servers like the "Snap". I don't know off the
top of my head which ones support Macs, but a few of them do (and they
all seem to support windows, as well as Novell, and usually *nix thru
things like SAMBA).

Otherwise, if you have the money, and want something a bit more than a
networked hard drive, Win2k Server has rather nice Services for
Macintosh. It can act as an AppleShare file server, as well as a regular
windows file server. Seemless (so both Mac and PC can use the same
directories), as well as pretty stable (I have been using NT 4's for a
LONG time, and I have had a Win2k test server running with it for a good
year now, no problems).

And then on the cheaper end of things, you can get any number of software
solutions that will allow you to use the personal file sharing of windows
or Mac OS and allow the other to see it (things like Dave, PCMacLan,
DoubleTalk, AppleShare windows client...) Those are all viable solutions
if you just need a few users to connect.

It is all very do-able, and it isn't all that tough to do either.
