elegant solutions arrives. Really - quote levels with bars on the left; quotes 
always containing some more or less arbitrary portion of the previous 
discussion? Having to figure out whether someone knows ancient web etiquette or 
ignores the form and feelings of the learned ones? Please...

Google wave, if it could live up to its own hype, might begin to break down the 
text-only conventions we struggle with now. Good luck to Google - Lotus Notes 
buckles under the weight of ponderous solutions to the same. But this 
text-quote, plain-text email thing is an anachronism, so argue all you will. We 
all know the iPad will solve the problem ;-)
