Very interesting (and good find William). So since the demise of the Xserve Apple is no-longer in the (really) Enterprise server market. The NC data center seems to be using third party hardware and operating systems.
As a result I think Mac OS X Server will become more of a home, workgroup, small business server OS (where is it is appropriate for a server to be a Mac mini or Mac Pro). Yet I wonder how big that market is? Or more to the point how many customers Apple will get? I am not sure it is something that Apple, the i* consumer company, would covet. Hence, I worry for the long term future of Mac OS X Server. Sure it may stay around as an Apple File Server and the like, but collaboration features like the Wiki would seem like an unnecessary effort for Apple. As Apple find out how to better integrate Macs with the other major operating systems, in the NC data center and on the Apple campus, I wonder if Mac OS X Server will cease to be (in the medium term). Or at least the absolutely necessary features will be rolled into a future version of Mac OS X client itself (and we won't even think of it as Mac OS X server, i.e. the direction they seem to be moving now).
