I personally wouldn't do it either . . .but suggesting that the OP toss the 
disk seemed a little like overkill. If a reformat/restore doesn't fix it . . 
.or if the problem recurs then that would get a higher priority on my 
recommendation list.

They're not always cheap though . . .having just received a new SSD for my MBP 
today:-)
