I have no add-ons for Mail at all installed.  My only spam filtering is on the 
server where spam assassin adds some headers if it detects possible spam.  
Those headers are checked on a different Mac using Mail rules but the one I was 
using for my tests with Jon had no other rules defined except the Apple 
supplied ones that detect incoming mail from Apple plus one similar one I added 
in long ago to color highlight certain mails.  The test rule was placed in the 
number one position (top) of the rule list as well.
