Yes, at least twice, using Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner. I've also reapplied the
latest SL combo updater, run file system repair, Disk Warrior, and even
resorted to voodoo like clearing the PRAM (which, given that every other user
and safe boot is working fine, qualifies as voodoo).

Yes. Two seem benign and two or three concern me, but I don't seem able to
affect the latter:

5/27/11 12:07:55 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[107]
(com.apple.ReportCrash) Falling back to default Mach exception handler. Could
not find: com.apple.ReportCrash.Self

The generally posted solution to this one is to copy the system launchd plist
for that function into the user agent area. When I do this, the error changes
into an error of the form, "I'm already running this." In either case, the
original problem persists, so I believe this is benign.

5/27/11 12:07:56 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[107]
(com.apple.Kerberos.renew.plist[132]) Exited with exit code: 1

The generally posted solution to this one is to remove the plist. When I do,
the error changes to something of the form "the plist is missing." Same lack
of effect, so I believe this is also benign.

5/27/11 12:07:57 AM     com.apple.fontd[118]    FODBCheck: foRec->annexNumber
!= kInvalidAnnexNumber (0)

Occurs three times, every login for this user. Google-fu fails. I have
cleaned all problems found by Font Book and destroyed the font caches, but it
persists. I have no idea what it is complaining about, and nothing I can do
seems to affect this. This one bothers me.

5/27/11 12:07:58 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[107] (com.apple.pbs)
Throttling respawn: Will start in 7 seconds

Shows up infrequently.

5/27/11 12:07:59 AM SystemUIServer[112]
__CFServiceControllerBeginPBSLoadForLocalizations timed out while talking to pbs

Can occur six to 12 times in a row every login for this user, each message with
a different app in the first column. Generally found solution is "run pbs by
hand to stop the messages," but this is irrelevant during the login process.
This one also bothers me.

5/27/11 12:08:01 AM KeyCue[151] *** EXCEPTION Cannot access menu bar

Have only seen this one or twice. It bothers me, but it isn't really chronic.

These messages do not occur when the "good" user logs in. I get the impression
that something is keeping launchd extra busy in the first few moments of the
new universe when the "bad" user logs in, and that whatever it is is connected
with the problem. It would explain some of the messages (e.g., the launching
of pbs gets delayed beyond the point where the other running apps need it, but
it works fine by the time I get to the Desktop). But there is not fine enough
information in the log to see exactly what that activity is. That's why a
debug handle on process creation, or even launchd activity, would be so
valuable.
