Carl, I appreciate your experience. I’m a Mac consultant, and have been using,
recommending, replacing and researching printers for 3 decades. I don’t know it
all, but do know that cheap printers from any vendor are just that. Cheap. When
you pay more, you get more. The ET-3750 replaced a Canon that printed
beautifully, but went thru printheads. The Epson cost nearly 3 times what the
Canon, a Pixima Mx922 cost, but is worth it. I’ve saved over a hundred bucks in
ink in less than a year. I print anywhere for a few to a couple of dozen prints
at a time, photographs, and perhaps 2 to 3 times a month on average. It’s been
great. The ET series printers I’ve installed for clients have the same kind of
record. Straight printers, not multifunction, that use the EcoTank system have
a great reputation for longevity, low cost and great printing.

That said, some have great results with Canon, or HP printers I have not, but
the Epson, so far, is stellar. That’s no guarantee, of course. Just my
experience and research results.
