Well, since you work with this stuff, you're probably aware that there 
are alternatives to both Apache::Request and Apache::Cookie - the CGI.pm 
module will do their jobs, albeit at an efficiency penalty.

I agree, I'm baffled about why these modules haven't been successfully 
ported, though unfortunately I lack the knowledge to do it myself.
