Has anyone tried accessing serial ports from perl?
I tried installing Device::Serial and it crashes hard (text is
printed on the screen as if it was a console indicating it is waiting
for the remote debugger to attach).
System Mac OS X 10.1.5
Power Mac G4 733 MHz
perl -MCPAN -e shell
try to install Device::Serial
it downloads it and then complains about not finding a serial port
quit
Plug in a Belkin USB F5U103-Mac serial port which becomes /dev/cu.modem
cd ~/.cpan/build/Device-SerialPort-0.12
perl Makefile.PL /dev/cu.modem
make test
Somewhere around test 85 the Mac crashes badly. Even from user mode.
I don't know if this crash would affect different serial ports or
non-SUB serial ports or whatever.
Any thoughts?
