(Cue replay of The Beast trying to eat soup with a spoon in Beauty and the Beast...) In my defense, I was using CPAN and trusting it to discover and build dependencies. I am learning this is an oft-flawed strategy. Since I'm using 5.8.0 in the interest of the best Unicode support I can get, I will follow the hints you gave me on it. I really appreciate all the help. Sweet dreams, --Chris PS I am excited to see Perl installation on MacOS X has gotten install directories numbered with the version number so multiple different versions can be maintained simultaneously ... I actually submitted this issue to Apple on the feedback page last weekend. Based on fixes I've seen, I believe they do read feedback. On a side note, the web site for the upcoming O'Reilly/MacOS X conference says most of the Perl6 core team is using MacOS X for development ... so we should have well-building Perl6 when it arrives :-)
