I think that would be horrible. It would unnecessarily re-mirror distfiles on 
our server and all mirrors, greatly increasing mirror disk space requirements 
for no reason. It would also impose re-downloads for all users, wasting 
everyone's bandwidth and time. Our current process works; let's not change it.
