What sort of account is it, IMAP or POP? Which provider? Certainly a
three-finger swipe down from the list always refreshes at any time you want.

Outlook? Sure, s'alright, but remember that in order to operate it must funnel
all your mail through Microsoft's infrastructure. So when you give your
credentials to Outlook, it then hands them over to Microsoft, who will then
operate on your account and give the app access to it indirectly through their
platform. This *can* offer you functionality that you would otherwise not have
on iOS, such as push notifications; it is also, of course, a massive privacy
downgrade. So you takes your pick and you makes your choices.
