Hi Scott, Don't know if this will help, but this is one I think I actually have the answer to, at least in part.
Don't know what type of accent you want, but for acute accents press option-e, release both, and then type the letter you need. I'm not sure yet how to get a grave accent, so if that's what you need, I apologize.
