So far I have just been shutting the lid and can't recall having any  
issues with the machine not sleeping or waking properly.  I have heard  
of cases where sometimes a machine will not sleep properly, so before  
putting the machine in a bag etc. it is best to hold by your ear and  
ensure it is in fact asleep or you might have a very hot machine on  
your hands.
