Hi Hank, I don't think that if you buy an app that turns out not to be VO friendly that the developer would necessarily refund the amount of purchase from the iTunes Store. But you might contact the developer, O'Reilly Media in this case, and ask whether these book apps are accessible with VO on the iPhone.
Incidentally, if you're just looking for information on migrating from Windows, I'd guess that the Take Control book would work fine for you. Reading is very easy under Preview, and you can go directly to the parts you're interested in. I wouldn't know how VO treats ebooks in an app, or how you would navigate through links, and search or jump to selected text on the iPhone. The thing about the Take Control guides is that it's very easy to go in with a specific question and find an answer. For that reason, even some people who don't like reading manuals like these guides.
