Is there a way to tell if a track is DRMed? Most of my library I ripped myself from my CD collection and the few I purchased came after all the DRM nonsense was over. Under the File Menu, Create New Version does it let you pick MP3 or whatever your default encoder is when you've selected your DRMed tracks?

Hi,

iTunes Music used to be labeled as “Protected” when DRM was active and since
all music now sold is considered “Purchased” in the iTunes Plus format, it no
longer has true DRM protection. There used to be an option in the iTunes Store
whereby you could upgrade your existing Store purchases to the iTunes plus
format but I’m not positive that is still an option. So, what I’m saying, is
that if your music is listed as “protected”, then removing and re-adding is not
really a good option for you.

I got it from iTunes & want to avoid paying for everything again. I have a lot of
songs but do not need or want iTunes Match. If I delete all music from my iphone, &
use the purchased section to download it again, will they be Drm protected or not?

I don't think there was any.

Where did you get the DRMed music? I don't think iTunes does DRM on audio
tracks anymore. Might be something where, if you got it from iTunes,
downloading a fresh copy might get you an unencumbered version. That said, I
think in the states the DMCA says the mere act of breaking encryption is not
legal, despite fair use laws etc.

Hi
I use the music on my iphone to create my own ringtones. All of the app a I
tried do not accept Drm protected songs. Is it legal to remove this? None of my
music used to be Drm protected.
Thanks,
Jessica
