Hi,

iTunes won’t let you convert protected content to MP3.  There is a sneaky way 
of stripping these sorts of DRM that is not really illegal.  If you create a 
playlist of the DRM protected content, then ask iTunes to burn you an audio CD 
of those songs, the DRM is stripped when the music is converted into the AIFF 
format on the audio CD.  You can then use the music files on that audio CD to 
create the ring-tone or re-import it to iTunes from the AIFF format present on 
the CD, re-tag it and it is no longer DRM protected.  A lot of work in some 
respects but it does allow you to create the ring-tones you want while not 
really breaking the law.

I forgot to mention in my last post that the upgrade to iTunes Plus actually 
cost 50¢ or so per item so it wasn’t always the solution that people wanted.
