Well, this just got a little more complicated but possibly I might have the 
answer. 

So bringing up the Mac today I had Amadeus open at start. I went first to the 
dock to see if the checkbox Tim mentioned was checked. Nope. 

Then I went to System Preferences and tried Alex's method but the only programs 
listed there were iTunes helper and DropBox. 

All righty then. I closed Amadeus and will now restart the machine to see what 
happens if it's not left open when I shut down. that may be the answer. 

Again, thanks all for your wisdom. It truly and sincerely doesn't cease to 
amaze me how helpful this list can be.
