I set up the iCloud email account from my iPhone. Now to make aliases which I assume has to be done on the Mac? Is it done in preferences or do I need to sign back into the iCloud site?

The other thing about iCloud.com is that, once you get to the Mail portion, you
must interact with the frame at the top of the page. Here's the trick, though:
whenever you make a change, like clicking a different button, you must stop
interacting and then interact again. Things may be different now, but that's
what I had to do a few months ago, and everything worked alright.

I made the transition from gmail to iCloud a few months ago as for me I was
having severe issues with gmail on my iMac. Yes, I know a lot of people haven't
had any issues, and to those lucky ones that is great. For those of you
thinking about switching I would say go for it, and you can set up your gmail
to forward to your iCloud account if you want to make sure you don't miss
anything which I am still doing. I would agree that setting up mail rules on
the iCloud website is a little tricky, and could be designed much better, but
once you get your rules set up you will be good to go. The key to setting up
rules and getting them to save is you actually have to click two done buttons,
I kept missing that second one and couldn't figure out why in the world my
rules wouldn't save, but I have noticed that iCloud is much faster with
VoiceOver on the mac. Is it perfect, absolutely not, but if gmail is slowing
your computer to a crawl, I would highly suggest removing it from your computer
, your blood pressure will go down. Good luck.

I have the lists I read most often on iCloud, and some others on Gmail. I still
use Gmail as a secondary email address. Setting up filters on iCloud is quite
tricky if you want them on all your devices, but very solid once it's set up.

I started using iCloud for this list so that I could take messages off real
fast of all my devices. I don't think I could've managed this list if I had not
put it on to iCloud. Before I did that, I was deleting everything twice.

Hi Robert and all. The reason why I stopped using Gmail is because it has
become unreliable. I've heard other people experience the same issues I was
facing, mainly messages not showing up in clients that I've configured the
account for a few weeks and after a few weeks they finally appear. Ever since I
made the switch to iCloud, I haven't looked back. I even configured Microsoft
Office in my Windows 7 VM to use iCloud email using the iCloud app you can
download for Windows. If I were you, I'd ditch Gmail altogether and go with
iCloud, but if you like Gmail then stick to what you prefer.

Please, this is not an invitation to go off on the Gmail issues.

I am not yet using the Mac for mail so am taking this time to research options
before I do the work.

I know some of you have switched from Gmail to iCloud. How well is it working
and was it difficult to make the switch and set things up with iCloud?

I use a Gmail IMAP account for email lists and currently running Thunderbird in
Windows. I have created rules and have had no problems with that at all. I save
the minimum number of emails, the rest get trashed weekly and would hazard a
guess that I probably have less than 1,000 emails. This account will not be
used on other devices, just the Mac. Have 2 other accounts for that and neither
are used for email lists so no rules necessary.

Am interested in feedback on how things are going with your iCloud accounts.
