I made the transition from gmail to iCloud a few months ago as for me I was
having severe issues with gmail on my iMac. Yes, I know a lot of people haven't
had any issues, and to those lucky ones that is great. For those of you
thinking about switching I would say go for it, and you can set up your gmail
to forward to your iCloud account if you want to make sure you don't miss
anything which I am still doing. I would agree that setting up mail rules on
the iCloud website is a little tricky, and could be designed much better, but
once you get your rules set up you will be good to go. The key to setting up
rules and getting them to save is you actually have to click two done buttons,
I kept missing that second one and couldn't figure out why in the world my
rules wouldn't save, but I have noticed that iCloud is much faster with
VoiceOver on the mac. Is it perfect, absolutely not, but if gmail is slowing
your computer to a crawl, I would highly suggest removing it from your
computer, your blood pressure will go down. Good luck.
