This is a USB adapter from Apple that I bought when I purchased the macbook air. You connect one point to the computer and the other to the cable that connects to the router. This is a wired connection. I called Apple and they said that I don't have to do anything but just plug it in. However, most of the time I am off line, so I don't know what is wrong.

I think we’ll need more detail.

What kind of USB adaptor is it, for starters? Does it have any ports, or is it wireless (including 3G/4G cellular from a phone company)?
