Started to do some more tweaking in Windows and discovered that there are now 2 instances of Windows 7 vm's. If I look at them in the VM library, they are almost identical in size. There is only one vm folder under Documents so I am not sure how to get rid of one or which one. Yhis might be the source of some anomalies I am seeing. What to do?

By menu bar, are you referring to the Applications menu? I set that to Never

Erm … I’m not actually sure *what* I meant, to be honest. Certainly the
system-wide app menu should be off for that has no real use in my experience.
Not sure why setting that Never should be giving you trouble at all. As to the
menu bar itself, you definitely need not worry about that; even when hidden,
you can still unhide it and use it with VoiceOver, as you noted.

I also turned off the full screen mini bar, not even sure if I used that yet.

Good. You don’t benefit from that either. Come out of full-screen and you can
have the entire menu system again, but be aware that this will change screen
resolution in the guest, so your screen reader may complain at you or require
restarting.

Its better. I did find I could not use the standard Windows selection method
when holding control key and selecting non contiguous files. Can that be the
Windows 8 keyboard profile?

I don’t know why that is. You could certainly try the standard layout. All
the profiles can be checked out in Preferences so you can see the keyboard
commands for yourself. The Win8 layout is, as you can see, simply providing
the many new Win8 shortcuts as Mac equivalents that don’t overlap.

Good luck on your tinkering. Windows always shines very brightly in a VM. :)
