Personally, I've had a mac since 2011, and never have really ran any sort of
security software.

Now, that said, let me just say that you could! key word, could! get a virus,
I'm not saying it's impossible. The odds however are ridiculously unlikely
though. With the way the OS is designed, you have to type your administrator
password, and pretty much intentionally want! to allow anything to run which
may be harmful. In other words, if the mac asks you to run something, and you
don't know what it is, nor trust it, then bottom line, don't letit run, and
you'll be fine.

Subject: Antivirus For My Mac Mini?

How many use some type of an antivirus program? It has been said for years
that the Mac did not need one. But it isn't as if they can't get viruses, it
is more that the virus writers concentrate on writing viruses for windows and
android phones. If antivirus and anti-malware programs are necessary, which
ones are accessible? Thanks in advance for any information.

I am going to the Apple store on Wednesday afternoon, and unless I discover
something completely unforeseen, I will buy my mini then.
