Hi, since it supports LUA, could the Mush-Z scripts for Alteraeon be
implemented, or is that too heavily Windows based?

For anybody who wants to try dentinmud.org <http://dentinmud.org> port
3000 might be a good place to start. As far as what iMud currently
offers over telnet Devin pretty much hit the nail on the head, sound
support is a big feature. iMud also has both a custom scripting
language and mildly supports Lua as a scripting language so that you
can automate some features. So triggers, timers, delays, aliases,
variables (macros coming soon)
Some minor details exist now to that you may or may not like, for
example you can log output from the MUD with a timestamp, you can have
custom aliases, you can gag (or simply not display) certain
spammy/repeated text.
There’s a lot of features planned down the road, some are certainly
accessibility based some are merely useful but I don’t want to promise
and then not deliver so I’ll keep quiet for now.
Oh! Last thing, iMud supports several MUD protocols already (MSP, MSDP
(mildly), MSSP, MCCP(soon), GMCP(soon)) those protocols are used by
both iMud and the MUD server, which means using only telnet you’re
actually missing out on features that the game wants to try and supply
(MCCP for example is a compression protocol good for slow connections)
For those of you testing this out just remember, it’s in beta :) (to
start iMud accessibility type OPTION+COMMAND+A)

I have a follow up question if it’s ok. I’ve played lots of muds but
only used telnet and the port number. What do these clients do that
say telnet doesn’t offer?
Thanks

Hey Tyler,
I am a swift programmer, but never did any mudding before. Can you
provide a host and port so I can play with the beta a little?
Thanks

Hey Everybody,
Quite some time ago I made a MUD client for OS X, it was alright
but promptly quit working with the advent of swift and apples usual
deprecation of code.
I’ve recently restarted the iMud project (Beta available at
http://www.asid.us#software <http://www.asid.us/#software>) and
have gotten to a comfortable enough place. It has the usual,
triggers, timers, aliases, delays, MSP (provided it’s server-side,
client-side coming soon). It does support Lua to an extent and it’s
all written in swift 3. This client will only work on the latest
macOS (sierra), this is intentional, trying to support legacy
operating systems is what got me in trouble lsat time.
If anybody is interested in beta testing the client give it a
download and send me a message to let me know what you think. If
anybody is interested in helping code iMud I have a plethora of
ideas and would welcome the help (you must know swift). Finally if
anybody is interested in learning to code and you think a partially
constructed MUD client might be a cool way to go feel free to
message me.
