Hi,

Also, this sort of thing usually happens, obviously, when some process is not 
allowing your Mac to shut down properly.  I'd try to reset the pRAM and/or an 
SMC reset.  Try the pRAM first, then if there's no change, try the SMC reset.  
If neither of those help, there's likely something in the Activity Monitor that 
can be investigated.

The part that puzzles me is that it will shutdown and restart during an upgrade.
