Hi Hank The short answer is no, doubling the RAM in that machine from 2 to 4 GB won’t make a difference. I’ll stick my neck out here and say you probably won’t even see a difference in performance at all with double the RAM. Don’t go wasting your money on RAM.
As said the best in terms of speed upgrade you can do is installing a SSD, but you really have to ask yourself whether it’s worth investing money in to such a old machine. If not already, soon that machine will stop being compatible with the latest Mac OS which basically makes it unsupported.
