Hi Kevin,

Coming in on this a bit late,

Just so I can confirm what I’m thinking is correct,

The problem occurs if you email from your me.com account you get an error to
say you can’t email that list because you subscribed to it from your
iCloud.com account

Is that correct?

when the original e-mail came to my iCloud.com address. Can't seem to prevent
this

The Gmail address is not the point. The relationship is is between the iCloud
address and the me.com<http://me.com> address. The iCloud address is an alias
of the ME.com<http://ME.com> address this has nothing to do with not being able
to reply to this thread from Apple mail. That was just a side comment. iCan you
still help me?

Hi Kevin,

The ability to delete an Apple ID is immaterial to your problem. If the new
eMail address is not linked to the older one in any way, then you should be
able to remove it from your Mail app as well as your Internet accounts in
System Prefs. If your new eMail is simply an alias of the old one, then
there's ways around that as well in that you can assign which eMail alias
responds to a message. In either case, you should not be stuck with this
issue. Whoever told you this is wrong. I will continue to work with you if
you wish, it's your call.

Later...

Well, I've had it. Apparently, if I didn't tell you,
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> is an Apple ID and can't be hosed. for
some reason, in many case, not all, if you reply to an e-mail that was sent to
your iCloud address, your reply will be sent from me.copm if your
me.com<http://me.com/> is an Apple ID. You can't hose an Apple ID. So,
there's no getting around the idea that you have to always check the SEND field
to make sure that it's being sent from iCloud and not me.com<http://me.com/>.
ARG!

thanks to all of you for your thoughtful suggestions.
It was kind of a drag that the only way I could reply reliably was to reply
from here on the web. When I tried to simply hit REPLY in my Apple Mail google
account, I have no idea where it went.

Oh well,
Kevin

Guys,

Many years ago, I subscribed to a Reaper mailing list using my
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> address. This address is now long dead.
I have since unsubscribed and resubscribed to this mailing list using
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. However, even though my e-mails
from this list come to my iCloud address, hitting reply automatically populates
the sending address as [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. If I don’t
happen to remember to click on the outgoing address and change it to
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>, the mail will be sent to nowhere
and it will take a few days for me to realize that the reason I haven’t heard
from whatever I asked about is because nobody saw what I wrote.

I have tried my best to make sure that [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> is
toast. It is no longer present as a sender’s e-mail address. But it remains
as an option in the list of e-mail addresses I can choose when sending e-mails.
In fact, if I am currently highlighting an e-mail that came to my iCloud
account, initiating a blank e-mail appears to populate the From field with
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>, regardless of what e-mail address I
actually want in the From field. I can’t remove this me.com<http://me.com/>
address as an option in the From field no matter what I do. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Kevin
