Does the Mac allow you to clean install the OS just like Windows does maybe through a recovery partition?

When restoring from a Time Machine backup, the destination machine’s hard drive is wiped, and the contents of the backup are written to the drive. Since a backup from an Intel-based Mac is incompatible with an M1 Mac, the M1 Mac is rendered unusable when restoring a backup from an Intel-based Mac. In addition to the migration breaking Voiceover, when I went to erase everything and reinstall the OS, I was unable to do so. I could erase the disk, but was not allowed to reinstall the OS, which pretty much left me dead in the water. When I googled it, I read that this is a known issue with the M1 Macs. So, even though not using Migration Assistant is a royal pain, were I you, I wouldn’t chance it.
