Why do you feel you need the extra power? I find the SE very responsive, and sometimes users do not need the latest phones to accomplish the tasks they need.
Is there an app that you can’t run on the SE? Apple is like any other company in that they can’t produce something new every year that no one has seen before. Sometimes, it is just upgrades. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is a good idea to pause and ask yourself if this is really something worth buying based on your own needs. The older iPad 5th generation was something new that I had not used before, and I wanted something with better sound quality.
