Hello Dave, I looked into it watched a few YouTube videos on installing Windows 11 on an M3 Mac and, you’re right, it’s a lot of fiddling and it’s more than I wanna bother with. I’m thinking about just buying an inexpensive laptop with Windows 11 preinstalled because all I really wanna do is fiddle around with it, I don’t have any real need for windows, just wanna play around you know how it is. Do you have a monitor for your Dell box? The only reason I’d get a laptop is so there would be a screen in case I needed some visual help. Other than that, I guess just a box with no monitor would be fine.

Hi,

I can tell you that yes, VMWARE Fusion does work on the m processors, I have the very same M3, 18gb ram MacBook Pro. I use Windows to play games.
As to the actual setup of the machine, I'll be totally honest and say that I had someone do that for me, so I unfortunately can't help in that aspect. But once everything's all set up, it works great.

Phil,
More to this discussion. I’m recalling that the concept of installing Windows on a Mac has been upended by the introduction of the new M series Mac. It’s possible that VM Ware and Parallels have both fallen behind in this regard and that the solutions may not be usable with the new processor types. Suggest you read up on these solutions and dig down to how they might or might not work with the M3 processor you have. BTW I also have the MacBook Pro M3 machine.

So, VMware fusion is the preferred choice for installing windows on the Mac? Is parallels still in accessible? Is VMware fusion free these days and where do I get it? Haven’t installed windows in a dozen years or so. Any help out there? Come on, I know lots of people here use windows on the Mac. Please chime in with your experience and your suggestions.

And Brianna thanks to you as well, I know that it does work great once it’s up and running but getting it up and running is a bit of trouble.
