Regarding external hard drives, if they are formatted as ntfs, the mac will read them but in order to write to nfs drives you would need third party software. The alternative is to reformat the drive as fat, make sure you have a backup of your data if you do that since reformatting a drive erases everything. Hope you enjoy the new mac, I have three Macs, I don’t have any windows computers and I have no interest in getting one. If you are familiar with using an iphone, you can enable the trackpad commander and use the same gestures to navigate that the iphone uses.
