Hi Frank,

I didn't see this thread earlier but I thought I'd respond. Yeah, it's 
maddening how VoiceOver keeps reading from the top. One method that will work 
for setting a placeholder is to use a hot spot. If, for example, you 
Command-Tab over to Pro Tools or something, pressing the VO-hot spot number 
will take you directly back to the spot you left in Preview. It's not the best 
but it does work.
