I know this is probably not a popular recommendation for this list, but given that the cost of an upgrade to K1000 to the most current version is, I believe $125, and given that you have a scanner and a machine to run the program on, that would be the cheapest and best solution from the point of view of the utility of the product. Just a thought. You are already familiar with the program. The ocr is improved over the version you have, and you don't have to mess with the cloud or mulliple programs and the hassle that entails. My problem is a little different, in that I don't own a Windows 7 machine and am not interested in messing with Windows 7 and continuing to pay for screen reader upgrades. So I'm hoping that something like docuscan will improve over time to allow local scanning and ocr at least, and possibly to allow for user control of settings as in K1000 or other full featured scanning programs for the general population on the Windows platform.
