The Canon Lide 210 can be used with the Mac. You should be able to install
them from the CD that came with your scanner. If not you can also get them
from the Canon website. I have the Canon Lide 200 and just installed it
this evening on my MacBook Pro with drivers I downloaded from the Canon
website since the ones on my installation cd were to old to be used with
Snow Leopard.
The Canon Lide runs really nice with DocuScan Plus.

I, like others, have tried Docuscan Plus today. So far, I am impressed, but
I don't know if it's to the tune of $299. I agree the necessity of being
connected to the internet in order to use the program is definitely a
legitimate caveat. I don't really know that I want my account numbers and
other sensitive information I will likely need to scan residing out there on
the cloud. What's wrong with being able to scan these documents locally?
I suffered the death of an old windows XP desktop computer this past week
that I was running Kurzweil 1000 on. It is an older version that doesn't
run on any of my current Windows 7 machines or my Macbook Pro, which is my
favorite computer. I just bought a Cannon Lied 210 and bought Vuscan just
to be able to scan photographs and the like, as the drivers that are
included with the Cannon scanner are not accessible with VO.
I guess the bottom line for me is do I buy something like ABBYY Fine Reader
or do I go with DocuScan Plus?
I'm going to keep trying Docuscan out this week, and make my decision later.

Hi.
I'd consider paying for DocuScan if it was $100 cheeper. This would
account for the licensing of the OCR, and the blindness related features.
As a college student with no funding, $100 goes a long way.

WHat do you feel is a fair price? This is a serious question. I have read
a number of messages where people have said the cost is to high. SO, what
is a fair price? What about the cost of a product like ABBYY Fine Reader
at $100. Is that a fair price? How do you equate a fair price based on
features?

Hi.
I think looking at this price in a positive light just because it's
lower is
what keeps the prices high. It's accepted.

Be nice if they would toss in the camera for a few dollars more. :) I
gather
with the camera it would be almost $500. I would like to see a demo on
the
Mac actually. THis is certainly a better deal than most other products
on
the market that are geared toward the blind and visually impaired user.
Now
I may also be wrong, but didn't the $299 also give you access to the
web-based product and something on the iOS platform> assuming that
becomes
available?

Hi Kevin
I made a quick test this morning with my canon lide 100 and it worked.
Now it is intresting to see if it can make something readable out of
swedish text. If so I deffently gonna buy this. More simple solution
than use vuescan, to abbyy, and to textedit wich works well but very
much work to get a document scanned.

Hey folks. SO glad to see this is finally available on the mac. One
question
comes to mind as I am not as familiar with this product. Does this
only
work
with cameras like the hover cam, or can I use it with a cheap Canoscan
25?
Thanks so much.

P. S. I wonder if they are considering doing something for the

Hello Listers.
DocuScan is now mac compatible and can be found on the mac app store.
Don't get too excited though, unless you have $299.00 to burn on it.
Hope this actually benefits someone.
