Thanks Zack.
Will try the quick nav for a while. I am doing some learning tings before I actually try going on the net or anything. as for using one hand for vo-z, I have a feeling your hands are larger than mine lol.

Hi Karen,
Speech rate can be adjusted with vo-cmd-arrow keys, left and right until you
reach rate and up and down to adjust. As for drawbacks with quicknav or
locking the VO cursor, quicknav generally won't impact anything else, though
you'll want to be careful in the event you ever do actually want to move the
physical cursor around with arrow keys. Locking the VO keys will impact a lot
more, and I don't personally recommend it. I have an MBP and just get used to
hitting VO-z with my left hand.
Best,
Zack.

Thanks on both counts. Any draw back to locking down those keys, or using
quicknav? does it impact your using anything else say on the web
Oh and one more so I need not start another thread. adjusting the speech rate?
Thanks,
Karen

The VO keys are on the left side of the keyboard, and can be locked down with
VO semicolon and unlocked by toggling that keystroke. This is because the
right option key is used as the modifier to trigger keyboard commander
shortcuts. also, if you're just cursoring around a lot, you can turn on
quicknav by pressing both left and right arrows simultaneously; this lets the
arrows work as VO navigation so you don't have to hold down those two keys
which, I admit, is a drag in the bag.
