Hello Missy,

I wanted to mention that if your MacBook is indeed a 2011 model, then it might
still be covered under Apple's standard warranty. You can get details of your
Mac's warranty status by taking the following steps:

1. In the Apple Menu select "About This Mac."
2. In the About This Mac dialog click the "More Info" button.
3. In the More Info dialog use VO to navigate through the items until you
locate your serial number.
4. Launch Safari and go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
5. Type your serial number and select your country and click continue.
6. On the next page, find and click the link labeled "See your service and
support coverage." This will take you to a page that will give some details
regarding the current status of your Phone support, Hardware support, and
AppleCare options.

HTH,
Bryan
